Sei Lob und Ehr dem höchsten Gut,
Praise and glory be unto the highest good,
dem Vater aller Güte,
to the Father of all goodness,
dem Gott, der alle Wunder tut,
to the God, who does all wonders,
dem Gott, der mein Gemüte
mit seinem reichen Trost erfüllt,
to the God, who imparts to my soul
his abundant comfort,
dem Gott, der allen Jammer stillt.
to the God, who stills all lament.

2. RECITATIVO BASSO
Es danken dir die Himmelsheer,
The heavenly hosts thank you,
o Herrscher aller Thronen,
O ruler of all thrones,
und die auf Erden, Luft und Meer
and those upon the earth, in the air and sea
in deinem Schatten wohnen,
living in your shadow,
die preisen deine Schöpfermacht,
they praise your creator-power,
die alles also wohl bedacht.

Was unser Gott geschaffen hat,
Whatever our God has created,
das will er auch erhalten;
this he will also preserve;
darüber will er früh und spät
mit seiner Gnade walten.

In seinem ganzen Königreich
Throughout his entire kingdom
ist alles recht und alles gleich.

Ich rief dem Herrn in meiner Not:
I called to the Lord in my distress:
ach Gott, vernimm mein Schreien!
ah, God, heard my cries!
Da half mein Helfer mir vom Tod
Then my helper helped me out of death
und ließ mir Trost gedeihen.
and let comfort flourish within me.
Drum dank', ach Gott, drum dank' ich dir;
Thus I thank, oh God, I thank you;
ach danket, danket Gott mit mir!

Der Herr ist noch
The Lord still is,
und nimmer nicht
von seinem Volk geschieden,

be absent from his people,

mit Mutterhänden leitet er
with motherly hands he leads

Wenn Trost und Hülf ermangeln muß,

Thus come before his presence
mit jauchzenvollem Springen;
with rejoice-filled springing;

Gott hat es alles wohl bedacht
God has considered all things well
und alles, alles recht gemacht.
